Managed Backup Services

Businesses, regardless of size, have a requirement for technology; it is not a choice, but rather a necessary investment to keep a business competitive and able to thrive. Whether it is simple or complex, technology mandates that a business take necessary precautions to ensure the reliability, security and flexibility of their network and attached systems; this includes the requirement to protect the data, applications and server operating systems that support a company's day-to-day business activities. Business Continuity is often overlooked or is viewed as being outside of the realm of affordability for many companies. In the event of a disaster, an immediate and temporary restoration of your critical business functions and data are a necessity. We ask our prospective clients to ponder the following question… How would your business fair in the event that you could not access your business data or applications for seven to fourteen days?

At KnowledgeCentrix, we have come to know that a disaster can range from an employee accidentally deleting a single critical file, to a disgruntled employee doing harm to some aspect of the network, as well as, servers failing and worst case scenario a localized or regional disaster that affects a company's ability to access their facility. We have also come to understand that it's not "if" a disaster will occur, but rather it is "when" that is most important and unfortunately impossible to predict. The question is "Are you prepared to recover from any disaster that your business may face today?"

Managing a technology infrastructure should not be underestimated. When undermanaged or mismanaged, the most basic systems can prove to be not only frustrating, but are rendered futile, and often, under the worst case scenario, a business can find itself in jeopardy if data is not protected and cannot be recovered in the event of an unforeseen disaster. KnowledgeCentrix has a proven approach and method to protecting not just your data but ensuring that you have the ability to recover from the types of disasters described above and more. Built on our award winning KnowledgeCenter appliance, we bring you our Managed Business Continuity and Data Protection Services. This service is many times added to our traditional managed services offering, or in some cases customers choose to have KnowledgeCentrix provide the data protection service as a standalone product when they have their own team of IT professionals on staff.

A brief overview of our solution follows; the KnowledgeCenter effectively becomes a complete replacement to your existing backup strategy and with this, eliminates all of the requirements relative to managing those backup operations including the costs. Those costs typically include: tapes, tape backup libraries, backup software, off-site storage fees, the time associated with performing upgrades, as well as, daily maintenance of the backups to name just a few. We begin by profiling each of your servers and effectively documenting the specific configuration and confirming that we can protect the operating system, the applications, and the data on the server. We will then configure the KnowledgeCenter appliance to run periodic backup jobs of the servers that are "profiled and protected" – a copy of the data is then kept locally in your facility and a secondary copy of the data is encrypted and sent electronically offsite to a secure data center in Phoenix, Arizona. This process is continually monitored by KnowledgeCentrix twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week.

In the event of a disaster (big or small), we have a recovery scenario to meet your needs when the data is protected by the KnowledgeCenter. A few examples of the recovery scenarios include:

Recovery Approach

A file is accidentally deleted by an employee from a protected server or workstation?

A call is placed to the KnowledgeCentrix support line and a request is made to have the file restored, our team will restore the file from the last backup and verify with the user that they can access the file.

A server hard drive fails and there is no replacement parts available for three to five days?

A call is placed to the KnowledgeCentrix support line; this will result in an engineer being assigned to recover the server onto an especially reserved location on the KnowledgeCenter appliance; this recovery will enable users to access the server, its applications, and data until replacement parts arrive for the failed server.

The facility where your business is located has flooded and the repairs will take more than three weeks to complete – to complicate matters power cannot be turned on inside the building for seven days?

A call is placed to KnowledgeCentrix and a "Disaster" is declared; KnowledgeCentrix will then assign a team of engineers to manage the restore and accessibility of your servers in one of the remote data centers; once the servers have been restored and tested – we will provide detailed instructions on how you can access your data from any location that has an Internet connection.

As you can see, the KnowledgeCentrix approach to data protection and business continuity enables our customers to recover from the big and small, foreseen and unforeseen, and truly focuses on ensuring that our customers can weather any storm when it comes.
